Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT), has expressed his confidence in his team’s ability to reach the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Despite the odds being stacked against them, Gill believes that miracles can happen.

Shubman Gill is high on confidence after thrashing CSK

Gill’s optimism stems from the team’s recent performance against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Titans emerged victorious, beating CSK by 35 runs. This win has kept their playoff hopes alive, albeit faint, with 10 points from 12 matches.

Gill and B. Sai Sudharsan, both of whom scored centuries in the match against CSK, were instrumental in the Titans’ victory. Their outstanding performance resulted in a 210-run opening partnership, tying the record for the highest opening partnership in IPL history.

Despite the team’s struggles in the IPL 2024 campaign under Gill’s captaincy, the captain remains hopeful. He stated, “The chances of us qualifying was 0.1 or 1 per cent. I think all of us, all 25 of us, we all believe that we can still make it into the playoffs. Because I have seen miracles happen with this team in the past couple of years and we all do believe in that.”

Gill’s confidence is not unfounded. He has seen his team perform miracles in the past, and he believes they can do it again. He also acknowledged that the team left 10-25 runs out there in the match against CSK, indicating that there is room for improvement.

The win against CSK has not only boosted the Titans’ chances of making it to the playoffs but has also given hope to other teams like the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Lucknow Super Giants, and Delhi Capitals, who are all eyeing the number four spot.
