Team India have a huge assignment coming up next in their sight with a lengthy tour of Australia away from home. The current holders of the Border-Gavaskar series will be without the services of skipper Virat Kohli for the final three tests owing to the birth of his first child. Former England skipper Michael Vaughan claims that the absence of Kohli would prove to be decisive as he lays his odds on Australia to reclaim the illustrious trophy.

The 30-man Indian contingent left for the land Down Under right after the IPL led by Virat Kohli. The captain will only be a part of India’s first pink ball test away from home with the rest of the test series slated to be led by the vice-captain.

Ahead of the much-anticipated tour which will mark India’s first assignment since the pandemic, Michael Vaughan lent his opinion and tipped Australia to wrap up the series noting Kohli’s absence.

“No @imVkohli [Virat Kohli] for 3 Tests in Australia .. The right decision going to be at the birth of his first child .. but it means Australia will win the series quite easily IMO [in my opinion]”: Vaughan wrote on Twitter.

India marked a memorable series win last time around with the Aussies suffering due to the absence of David Warner and Steve Smith, who were serving their one-year suspension.

The tables will be turned this time around as the Men In Blue will be without their leader after the Adelaide day-night test. Apart from the leader, India will miss Virat Kohli the batsman as well since he has racked up copious amounts of runs in his last two tours to Australia.

While the captain had an average IPL campaign with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the team would have welcomed his expertise on the hard and bouncy tracks to be capitalised by the four-pronged pace battery of Australia.

The Men In Blue will start their tour with white-ball cricket in the form of 3 ODIs and 3 T20s. The campaign will kick off on November 27 with the first ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
