Mexican Boxing star Canelo Alvarez wants to be an ‘example for kids’

Mexican boxing star and current WBA, WBC middleweight champion of the world Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is all set to challenge IBF middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on 4th May which falls on the Cinco De Mayo weekend.

Ahead of the fight, both fighters are on a 3 city media tour taking place in New York, Mexico City and Los Angeles. The events are open to the public according to Golden Boy Promotions. Two city media tours are already over.

At the Mexico City media tour, Canelo Alvarez said that he is proud to be here and passionately acknowledged the love of his countrymen.

It fills me with pride being here,’ he said.

I want to be an example for the kids and young people. If you dream a dream you can make it true, whatever it is.

I will do my best. I know what a challenge and opponent Daniel is but I will be ready to win this fight on May 4 for Mexico and to come back as a unified champion.

Canelo is coming off of a third-round TKO victory over Britain’s Rocky Fielding at the Madison Square Garden on 15th December. Before that, he dethroned Gennady Golovkin in September to win the world title.
