Qatar reached new heights in the 2019 edition of the AFC Cup and striker Al-Moez Ali been instrumental to his side’s success in the continent.
Al-Moez Ali , who plays for Qatar Stars League team Al-Duhail Sports Club scored a record 9 goals at the AFC Cup in UAE. The previous record was held by legendary Iranian striker Ali Dae who had scored 8 in the ’92 Asian championship.
Lionel Messi, perhaps the greatest of all time has acknowledged this monumental performance by the Qatari striker and jas a present for him.
During a show on BeIN Sport the presenter, Ayman Jada, presented Almoez a picture of the t-shirt numbered 19 and signed by the Barcelona star.
The Italian news website Calcio Mercato said in a report that the club was watching the player closely, especially after scoring nine goals in seven games, including a ‘super hat-trick’ in the North Korea match and a goal in the final of the tournament against Japan.
Being an Aspire Academy graduate – which is the key youth football and development academy in Qatar, Al-Moez Ali has high ambitions. Playing in Europe would be a jump that he would gladly embrace , says the man.
“Of course, I look for European teams because in our league in Asia, not only in Qatar but in all of Asia, we know teams are weak and we see that at the World Cup. They do not go far. Always, they go out, ” he was quoted in a Reuters report.
“I hope to go out [to Europe] to learn and to come back for the World Cup in Doha in 2022.” added Al-Moez.
