Roman Abramovich has been the man who turned over the fortunes of Chelsea Football Club. He brought in the funding that helped Chelsea reach the pinnacle of World football and he brought in the resolution that make the club a prestigious institution. However, he surely couldn’t have done it alone, so he brought in Marina Granovskaia, the women who would revolutionize Chelsea F.C.
Granovskaia started working as Roman Abramovich’s PA at his oil company, and later became involved in transfers and contractual dealings for Chelsea FC. Granovskaia was promoted to chief executive of Chelsea FC in 2014.
Her sale of starman Eden Hazard to Real Madrid has been so incredible that she’s been hailed by the Stamford Bridge faithful.
The La Liga giants have agreed to pay £88.5m plus up to £41.5m in add-ons for a 28-year-old who has just one year left on his Blues’ deal.
To put things into perspective , here’s a sequence of how Marina, a foreign language graduate from Moscow State University became a part of the Chelsea elite :
She made excellent calls throughout her time at Chelsea. Asking Abramovich to keep Didier Drogba after his antiques in the 2009 Champions League proved to be right while the media put pressure on the club to sell the Ivorian. Marina insisted Roman to forget about the past and rehire Jose Mourinho, this decision brought the club a couple of good years and trophies. She negotiated hard deals with other clubs for transfers and got players at a lesser value than market price. Marina also revoked the club policy for over 30 players that only let them get 1 year contract extensions by making Luiz stay another year, as this policy has worked excellently with Olivier Giroud staying beyond his initial contract to pioneer the Europa League trophy!
No wonder Marina Granovskaia is the most powerful woman in football.
