Mazahir Saidu is without a doubt a powerhouse of Indian Armwrestling. No one in India has been able to pin him in his ten years of arm wrestling. Mazahir has demonstrated that his top roll is invincible, easily defeating everyone in the first season of the Pro Panja League.
Mazahir Saidu is the team captain and a competitor for the Kochi KD’s franchise. The team won the first season of competition under his leadership.
Hailing from Dubai, Mazahir Saidu has been training alongside the best Armwrestlers in the world and when he is not training to be the baddest Armwrestler in India, he is working as a deputy finance manager for the Goverment of Sharjah.
The Sports India Show team had the opportunity to catch up for a candid interview about his life in the United Arab Emirates.
Interview with Mazahir Saidu
1) How long have you been Arm Wrestling?
So I’ve been Arm Wrestling from 2014 onwards but it’s around 9 years now but I’ve been taking breaks on and off because of my studies. I’ve been taking breaks for like 4 or 5 years in between for my exams and all but basically I’ve started my Arm Wrestling from 2014 onwards.
2) How long have you been in UAE?
I’ve been in UAE for quite a long time. Basically I was brought up here, I did my schooling here up to 12th and then what happened was I went to India in 2011 for my higher studies, I did my CA, took around 5 years and then I came back to UAE. So I’m based in UAE right now.
3) What’s your job profile in UAE?
So currently I work, I am a Chartered Accountant basically and I work as a Deputy Finance Manager for the Government of Sharjah. It’s a project called the Shurooq Sharjah Investment and Development Authority. So what we do is we develop and invest in Sharjah. I’ve been there with them for from 2018 onwards.”
4) Do you participate in local UAE competition?
I always participate in UAE competitions.I am always known as the strongest in UAE. I always win first in UAE from 2016 onwards I guess. In 2016, 2017, 2019, and all the recent ones, all the recent Completion in UAE, I win first place.
5) How many Medals have you won in UAE?
Well, there are local competitions, so I basically don’t remember. But yearly at least twice there are competitions, I think around 5-6 medals are there in total, but I’m not sure exactly how many I’ve won going, but hopefully I will add more to be tally going forward.
