LSG’s pace sensation Mayank Yadav has revealed his wish to recreate the iconic delivery of Jofra Archer in the 2019 World Cup after his blazing start to life in IPL 2024. Mayank has made a fantastic start to the season as he has picked up 6 wickets in 2 matches and was consistently crossing the 150 kmph-mark in both games. LSG won both matches on the back of the pacer’s fiery spell.

Mayank Yadav shares his fast bowler’s dream

In an interview with SportsTak, Mayank shared, “From my young age, I have been hearing coaches tell fast bowlers to hit the top of off-stump. I also had a dream. I wanted to bowl a delivery that would hit the top of the off-stump and fly over the boundary rope, like what Jofra Archer did in the World Cup. I also thought I would be able to do that”.

Jofra Archer’s delivery in the 2019 World Cup against Bangladesh is remembered for its sheer pace and precision. The ball clean bowled Soumya Sarkar by hitting the top of the off-stump and flew over the boundary rope. This delivery is considered one of the most iconic moments in cricket history, and Mayank Yadav has expressed his desire to recreate this moment.

Mayank came very close to replicating Archer’s delivery during a recent clash at the Chinnaswamy stadium against RCB’s Cameron Green. The ball was pitched just before the boundary rope after hitting the stumps. Mayank described this delivery as special because Cameron Green had hit him for a boundary on the previous delivery.

“I think that delivery that Cameron Green’s stumps flew toward the boundary, but pitched just before the rope. It was a special delivery. It was special because the previous delivery, I think Cameron Green hit me for a boundary,” said Mayank.
