Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of a nationwide lockdown for the next 21 days, ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar expressed his complete support towards the decision, saying “this simple task can save millions of lives”. Addressing the nation on Tuesday evening, PM Modi announced a nationwide lockdown in the country till April 15th, to prevent the further contamination of the coronavirus pandemic.

“In view of the current situation, the nationwide total lockdown will be in place for 21 days — three weeks,” declared Prime Minister Modi.” It is a kind of a curfew, if we are not able to manage the upcoming 21 days (of nationwide complete lockdown), we will be pushed back 21 years.” he added.

Right after this announcement several cricketers including Tendulkar took to Twitter to voice their support,

“Simple things are often the hardest to do, because they require consistent discipline and determination. Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji has asked us to #StayHomeAndStaySafe for 21 days. This simple task can save millions of lives. Let’s all unite in this war against #COVID19”. Tendulkar tweeted.

“We have to act wisely for these 21 days to ensure the well-being of our entire nation. Let us all do our part, stay at home, stay safe and safeguard the health & future of our families & friends. We’ll come out of this stronger. #StayHomeIndia #JaiHind,” pacer Jasprit Bumrah tweeted.

While Virender Sehwag, who was Tendulkar’s partner in crime during his playing days wrote that the next 21 days are very importantin the history of the country,

“These 21 days are very important in the history of our nation & each one of us can play our part by just staying at our homes and maintaining distance from people. Please adhere to it strictly and we shall overcome this soon #CoronavirusLockdown,”

Recently, to much delight of the fans, both Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag were spotted in action after a long while, in the Road Safety World Series. However, the tournament had to be called off midway through as the threat of coronavirus contamination loomed over the country a few weeks ago.
