Mary Kom dominated the first round and showed no mercy towards her opponent. The Olympic bronze medallist kept the 21-year-old at her backfoot and rarely gave her a chance to break.

However, the Ukrainian grew into the game in the second half and halted Mary’s momentum. But, Mary delivered a thunderous right punch in the dying embers of the round to ensure she had the last laugh.

The third round was an even contest with Hanna ducking a couple of Mary’s punches as well as delivering some clean blows of her own. Moreover, she even thought that she had won the match as the final bell rung.

However, to her dismay, the ring announcer announced that the judges awarded the win to Mary Kom 5-0 via unanimous decision and the whole arena erupted in euphoria. With this win, Mary Kom equals Cuban boxing legend Felix Savon’s record of winning six World Championships.
