Marko Grujic explains why he copied Ronaldo’s celebration

Celebrations in an emotional game can at times get out of ones control. The world of football no stranger to weird as well as brilliant celebrations. But when Hertha Berlin midfielder Marko Grujic scored against Schalke, he invariably celebrated quite just like Cristiano Ronaldo himself!

Visitors Schalke 04 grabbed an important early lead via Yevhen Konoplyanka in the 17th minute, against Hertha Berlin last Saturday in their Bundesliga clash. Soon Grujic equalised 22 minutes later, and further first half goals by Mark Uth for Schalke, and Vedad Ibisevic in stoppage time, in that order, saw the match end in a 2-2 draw.

The talking point of the game, however, remains Grujic’s goal celebration after he scored the first equalizer for Hertha. The Serbian mifielder, who is on a season-long loan in Germany from English side Liverpool since August last year, went on and celebrated quite like Cristiano Ronaldo, in the former Real Madrid ace’s very own signature style.

Something like this is very common, when one is influenced by someone, and this case, Grujic by Ronaldo.

“It was pure emotion. I could not control it, it just happened like that. I look up to Ronaldo,” Grujic said, when asked about the celebration.
