Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has attributed his stellar performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Oman to his experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Stoinis’ all-round heroics, which included scoring 67 runs and claiming three wickets, played a pivotal role in Australia’s victorious start to their 2024 campaign.

Marcus Stoinis’ stint in IPL 2024

Stoinis had a successful stint with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2024 season, where he showcased consistent brilliance both with the bat and the ball. Throughout the IPL campaign, Stoinis featured in 14 matches, amassing an impressive total of 388 runs, including a remarkable century and two half-centuries.

Reflecting on his IPL experience, Stoinis emphasized the significance of the tournament in shaping his cricketing skills. He stated, “I think I’ve been going to the IPL for 10 years now so it always feels at the end of IPL when you finish IPL, you’re a better player so regardless of the 100 or not I think it’s a nice way to lead into a World Cup.”

Stoinis scored 67 runs and picked up three wickets, guiding Australia to a winning start in their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. His performance was particularly commendable given that he had to adapt to a different role, coming in at No.5, with his side in a spot of bother.

Despite the pressure, Stoinis managed to turn around a sluggish start with Oman’s bowlers keeping pressure on their big-name opponents for 14 overs. He was dropped on 9 and then bludgeoned six sixes, demonstrating his ability to handle pressure and adapt to challenging situations.
