Tough times call for tough measures- a mantra which Manu Bhaker will be perfectly implementing, as the Indian shooter has decided to take her BA exams while being away in Croatia for the European Championships.

A political science undergrad of the coveted Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Bhaker is currently stationed in Zagreb for the upcoming European Championship to be hosted in Osijek from 20th May onwards.

However, her BA fourth semester exam is scheduled to commence on 18th May, just a day before the Olympic-bound Indian shooting team initiates their practice session. Bhaker, however, will have to balance between the pistol and the pen during that time.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Bhaker has balanced her exams and tournaments. In a recent interview with PTI, the 19-year-old Haryanvi’s words ooze confidence as she aims to ace in both of her upcoming endeavours.

“I will manage both, as I have done in the past. At least I don’t have competition on days I have my papers, so it’s manageable,” said Bhaker, “this is the year of the Olympics and I am fully focussed on how to give my best and do my country proud.”

However, Bhaker does have her preferences in case both things clash with each other, as her father Ramkishan Bhaker revealed that the shooter will always opt for sports over exams.

A seven time ISSF world cup gold medallist, Bhaker will represent India at the Tokyo Olympics in both the women’s 25m pistol, teaming up with the veteran Rahi Sarnobat, as well as the 10m air pistol event with Yashaswini Singh Deswal. She will also team up with Saurabh Chaudhary for the mixed team 10m pistol.

On the heels of the European Championships, the Indian shooting contingent will prepare for the subsequent ISSF World Cup, which will also take place in Osijek from 22nd June to 3rd July.

Following the two events in Croatia, the Indian team will directly fly to Tokyo for the Olympics which is kicking off on 23rd July.
