Taking aim at the M.P.State Shooting Academy range, Anish Bhanwala topped the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event with a score of 587, while Manu Bhaker came third in the women’s 25m pistol shooting 585 to maintain the top rank among the five shooters in each event.

Manu Bhaker inches close to seal a berth for Paris Olympics

Manu Bhaker, an Olympian, showcased her prowess in the Women’s 25m Pistol event. She shot an impressive score of 585, securing the third position in the qualification rounds. This performance has kept her at the top rank among the five shooters in each event. Regardless of the final outcomes, Bhaker will enter the fourth trial with at least a four-point cushion over her nearest competitor.

Anish Bhanwala, India’s top men’s Rapid-Fire Pistol (RFP) shooter, also stayed on course for a top finish. He topped the Men’s 25m Rapid-Fire Pistol event with a score of 587. Bhanwala too is assured of a two-point cushion over his nearest challenger in the men’s RFP.

The competition for the second spot is currently very tight. In the Women’s Pistol event, Esha Singh, Rhythm Sangwan, and Simranpreet Kaur Brar are in close contention. In the Men’s RFP, Vijayveer Sidhu and Bhavesh Shekhawat are in a close fight for the second position, with Sidhu currently edging it.

These trials are crucial as they determine the athletes who will represent India in the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. The finals of the Olympic Selection Trials are scheduled for Sunday, where there are crucial podium points to be won by the five qualified shooters.
