Manika Batra won her Women’s Round 1 table tennis clash against Britain’s Tin-Tin Ho. She was victorious by a margin of 11-7, 11-6, 12-10, and 11-9.
Manika Batra wins in convincing fashion
She dominated the contest from the word go and won 45 points across the four sets compared to Tin-Tin’s 32. Manika Batra set the tone of the contest with a seven-point lead in the very first set. She will take on Margaryta Pesotska of Ukraine in Round 2 of the Women’s Singles.
The dominant nature of the win will give her much-needed confidence as he heads into round 2.
The straight-set win came after a disappointing outing in the mixed doubles event. The duo of Manika Batra and Sharath Kamal were comprehensively defeated by the Chinese Taipei team of Lin and Cheng. They had succumbed to a defeat in straight sets by 11-8, 11-6, 11-5, 11-4.
