Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh has roped in sporting icons Manika Batra and Rishabh Pant to woo Delhi voters for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It is expected that more people will engage themselves in the parliamentary exercise after the sporting icons encourage them to do so. Neither Manika Batra nor Rishabh Pant will be campaigning for any political party while speaking to the public through radio and video messages.

“This year there are a total of 1.39 crore voters in the city- 62,35,814 female, 76,61,68 male, and 647 transgender voters namely. The sports icons have been roped in to spread awareness among the voters. Our effort will be to increase the total vote percentage this year from last time’s 65.02 percent,” said Ranbir Singh.

Manika Batra is the highest-ranked female table tennis player in India, ranked at 47th. She won the Gold medal in women’s singles at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Rishabh Pant recently played for India against Australia in the 4th ODI where he scored 36 runs from 24 balls. However, his poor show behind the wickets helped Australia to tie the series 2-2.

Both Rishabh Pant and Manika Batra are residents of Delhi and their words of wisdom should increase the number of voters in the national capital.
