The Indian paddler Manika Batra was knocked out of the women’s singles event in Tokyo Olympics. She recently suffered a defeat in her third round match against Sofia Polcanova of Austria. The Austrian star handed Batra a 4-0 defeat in straight games (11-8, 11-2, 11-5, 11-7)

It was quite known that Batra would not have an easy affair with Austria’s Polcanova. Though the Indian picked up a thrilling comeback victory in the previous round, but she could not repeat the same against the Austrian.

Manika looked more confident as the first set went deep. Eventually, the Austrian won it. The game seemed to slip away from Batra after the defeat in the second set itself. Polcanova went on to get a grasp on the match and eventually led 3-0, after which the chances of making a comeback for Batra looked slim.
