Indian boxer Mandeep Jangra, who made his professional debut earlier this year, has marked a TKO victory in his second pro boxing appearance against US boxer Devon Lira on Sunday.

Jangra, who won silver medals at the 2013 Asian Championships in Amman and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, switched to professional boxing earlier this year and in his debut, defeated Luciano Ramos of Argentina by unanimous decision in a four round fight in March.

Now, the 28-year-old, who contested as a welterweight (69 kg) in amateur boxing, has gone 2-0 in his pro career as a lightweight (61 kg) with a 2nd round TKO of Lira in Tampa, Florida.

“As an amateur I used to compete in the 69kg category and I have reduced a lot to fit into this division but I am happy with it,” Jangra said in an interview with PTI after his win.

“I have a great team around me in ProBox Promotions and I am very thankful for all the Indian people that support me, not just back home but in the local community in Florida,” the Haryanvi pugilist added.
