United’s Juan Mata has decided to extend his contract until 2020, which was due to expire in a fortnite and would have made him a free agent.

The Spaniard joined the Red Devils from Chelsea for a club record of £37.5 million in 2014, has now decided to stay at Old Trafford as Barcelona and Inter Milan dropped interest.
After the departures of club captain Antonio Valencia and midfielder Ander Herrera as free agents, securing the 31-year old will be useful for United as a squad player.
The club’s current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aiming to rebuild his squad with new players, including the likes of West Ham United’s Declan Rice, Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Tottenham duo Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier, and fan-favourite Mata’s experience and personality should come in handy for the club.
Mata has scored 45 goals in 218 appearances and netted the ball in the 2016 FA Cup final win against Crystal Palace.
Following the club’s Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku’s reports of being linked with a transfer to Inter, where Antonio Conte was recently appointed, and also another club starman Paul Pogba pushing a transfer to Real Madrid, Mata’s stay at United should come out fruitful, given his versatility as a right-forward.
