Despite being linked to several players across the globe, Manchester United have had a quiet start to the transfer window, having only been able to secure the signing of Daniel James from Swansea. With the future of star players Neymar and Paul Pogba, highly volatile at the moment, PSG had apparently suggested a swap deal between the two.

The flamboyant players have publically expressed their intent to leave their respective clubs over the summer. Neymar reportedly prefers a move back to Barcelona while Pogba desires to either work with Zidane at Real Madrid or return back to Juventus.

The Ligue 1 Champions apparently contacted Ed Woodward over the prospect of a potential swap deal between Neymar and Paul Pogba recently. The deal, was however, rejected instantly by Woodward for two reasons.

Firstly, the club believes that keeping Neymar on board would be a huge financial burden. the Brazilian reportedly earns 900,000 in wages per week. The Red Devils already have a huge wage bill thanks to Alexis Sanchez’ hefty weekly wages. The prospect of yet another player earning astronomical wages could cause trouble within the team which is already distorted in the first place.

The second reason is believed to be Woodward’s faith in the Frenchman. The vice-chairman is hesitant to sell the midfielder and believes him to be an integral part of the team moving forward.
