English champions Manchester City have currently set their sights on Atletico Madrid’s defensive midfielder Rodri.
Manchester City are attempting to lure Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri with the club having already launched a formal bid according to reports in Spain.
Rodrigo, who plays as a defensive midfielder for Atletico Madrid has had a solid season with 3 man of the match performances to his name.
While reports earlier suggested that City had ended any interest they had for Rodri, AS now claims that an offer of £61.2m has been made to trigger his release clause.
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo made the point clear by saying that he was a their player but if an offer arises the club would consider it. “Rodrigo is an Atletico player, but if tomorrow he has an offer and he wants to go…”.
While Rodri isn’t content on continuing with Atletico, City themselves have started to push for the deal by offering him a long contract and better wages when compared to the current one. Pep Guardiola is said to be the key figure in the negotiations.
It is to be noted that Manchester City are currently facing accusations from UEFA for breaching the FFP regulations. This might see them face a transfer ban or eventually even getting themselves banned from Champions League for a season.
