Two time Olympic medallist shuttler PV Sindhu produced a superb performance in her second round outing against Zhang Yi Man to sail into the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Masters on Thursday.

Sindhu, seeded seventh, outperformed Yi Man within only 28 minutes to thrash the Chinese player 21-12 21-10 to wrap up the match. However, a more difficult challenge awaits the Indian as Sindhu will cross paths with her longtime rival Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan in the quarterfinals.

Looking at the head to head record, Sindhu is miles behind with just five wins and sixteen losses against Ying. The world no 2 had also ended Sindhu’s run at the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open last week.

B Sai Praneeth, who came off of an easy win against Guatemalan shuttler Kevin Cordon and picked up a 21-8, 21-9 victory within half an hour in the first round, crashed out of Malaysia Masters after going down against China’s Li She Feng 14-21, 17-21 in 42 minutes.
