Lyon manager plays down hopes against Messi-led Barcelona in Champions League

The manager of Lyon, Bruno Genesio played down the hopes against Messi-led Barcelona in the round of 16 clash in the Champions League. According to him, Lyon have to play their best football in this match to progress to the next round of the competition.

Lyon boss Bruno Genesio told,

“Of course you can make plans, but against Messi, all the plans you made are useless because he’s such a genius,”

“I believe he scored 50 goals in 2018 and he’s not alone.

“Of course there’s Leo Messi, but there are other great players in the team, so you have to create plans everywhere on the pitch.

“You need a team that’s at 100 or 150 per cent, and hope to beat them over two games.”

Lyon have played great football against Manchester City in both the Group Stage matches. In the first match, they were able to get past Manchester City and in the reverse fixture, a spirited 2-2 draw will surely lift their confidence before playing against Barcelona.

The French side do not fear to play their own football against the big teams. They will not defend with 10 men in the penalty box. Rather, we can expect a good free flowing football from both ends. The match is surely going to be one of most exciting clashes in the round of 16.
