In an exciting development for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be sporting a jersey inspired by the Indian football club, Mohun Bagan Super Giants, in their upcoming crucial clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 14.

The decision to switch to a fresh jersey comes as both LSG and Mohun Bagan have the same principal owner, Indian billionaire businessman Sanjiv Goenka. This is not the first time that the KL Rahul-led side has featured in the green-maroon jersey. They wore the same colours back in IPL 2023 against the same opponents.

The match, set to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, is crucial for LSG, who are coming off a loss against Delhi. Having won three games on the trot, LSG suffered a loss against the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals on April 12, which increases the importance of the upcoming fixture.
On the other hand, KKR started IPL 2024 in scintillating form, only to see their four-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a loss to Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets on April 8. This makes the upcoming match a crucial one for both teams as they look to bounce back to winning ways.
The jersey move is aimed to honour the legacy of Mohun Bagan and their rich history in Indian football. In their previous away fixture at the Eden Gardens during IPL 2023, the Mohun Bagan-esque LSG clinched a thrilling victory over the two-time IPL champions, by a mere 1 run.
