Indian pugilist Lovlina Borgohain is glad to qualify for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. It comes after winning a silver medal in the recently concluded Asian Games 2023.
Lovlina Borgohain hails from the eastern state of Assam and has always performed with grit and determination in the boxing ring. She has made her country proud on multiple occasions. Her growing resume of accomplishments further expanded with her silver medal win in the Asian Games.
Speaking to India Today, Lovlina revealed her goal and stated that though she couldn’t win the final she was pleased with her performance. Lovlina earned India’s 74th medal at the Asian Games and its fifth in boxing. In the women’s 75kg final, Li Qian of China defeated Lovlina.
“Our performance was good. My individual experience was also good. My target was to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which was a big achievement for me. I couldn’t win the final but I was happy with my performance. My final was against a Chinese opponent, so the crowd was also behind my opponent,” said Lovlina.
She continued by praising the atmosphere at the 2023 Asian Games and saying that she had learned a lot there.
“I had defeated her in the World Championships but this time I couldn’t. But I qualified for the Olympics, which is why I’m really happy. I got to learn a lot and the environment was also very good there,” Lovlina added.
