KSI vs Logan Paul was billed as the biggest event on the internet, as the two youtube superstars from the United Kingdom and the United States went toe to toe with each other exchanging heavy leathers in front of a sold-out crowd of 21,000 fans at the Manchester Arena in London.
The fight took place at the early hours of the morning as per IST and with millions of people watching the fight online through different means. This was truly a historic event for YouTubers and many also compared it to Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather of YouTube world and both guys collectively had over 37 Million subscribers.
The fight, however, wasn’t free and came with a price tag of 10 USD or 7.5 GBP or ₹668.00. Although the price wasn’t insanely high like Mayweather vs McGregor which cost around $100, still many people were found watching the fights via illegal streaming channels.
More than 800,000 people were watching the official live stream of the fight at its peak by officially purchasing the fight and others were found using illegal twitch and periscope streams. Just to give our readers a perspective, last year the biggest PPV fight in UFC which took place between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier sold around 850,000 PPV buys and that was a legitimate fight.
Over 2 million people were watching the fight on Twitch and periscope combined and one of the twitch streams had around 400,000 people watching the fight card Live.
KSI made his internet fame through playing and streaming FIFA on his youtube channel, whereas Logan Paul, the most controversial Youtube star made headlines only a few months ago as he was found vlogging a dead body Aokigahara forest, a notorious suicide spot in Japan, which resulted in him receiving massive online backlash. YouTube temporarily suspended Paul’s sponsored ads, and the star later posted a video apology and pledged $1m (£750,000) to suicide prevention charities.
The 21-year-old Jake Paul meanwhile is a former vine star and a Disney channel actor and usually does prank videos on his channel.
