Manchester United and Liverpool manage a 0-0 stalemate at Old Trafford tonight in what can be called an injury laden night for the hosts. The tie takes Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table, leading reigning champions, Manchester City, by a single point.

United were without forward Anthony Martial, who picked up an injury last week against PSG, while caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to have Jesse Lingard on the bench due to not being 100% fit.

Things started well for the hosts who looked very organised for the first 21 minutes before Herrera had to come off after tweaking his hamstring. Rashford had started to look weak as well until five minutes later Mata was subbed off too, compelling a premature entry for an already unfit and injured Lingard. Things took a turn for the worse for Solskjaer as Lingard limped off in the 37th minute, leaving the Norwegian without any options for the remainder of the game.

It was clearly a match for the defenders as both teams barely managed 6 shots throughout the game. Although the Reds had a few chances to go ahead, albeit on set pieces near the goal, the closest anyone came to scoring was Chris Smalling who completely failed to capitalize on a magnificent Romelu Lukaku through ball merely a yard away, just seconds before the final whistle.

While Solskjaer will have to unhappily settle for a point, Klopp will be satisfied as Liverpool go back to the top of the table by one point, leaving Manchester City behind in the second place.
