After a lot of hype and buzz, the cricket associations of both India and Bangladesh have come to terms for the Kolkata test to be a day-night affair. This would mark the first Day-Night Test encounter for these countries.

Newly appointed BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had mentioned the importance of bringing the tweaked format into the country in order to promote and preserve the format. He had also mentioned that Virat Kohli is in agreement as well.

Just days after shedding light onto this new format, BCCI reportedly put forward a request to the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the second test to be played under the lights at the famous Eden Gardens.

The BCB has agreed to the said request from the BCCI which prompted Ganguly to put forward a statement which reads:

“I’m pleased to announce that our long-term partner BCB has graciously agreed to play a day-night Test match,” “This is the beginning of something special in Indian cricket. It is a priority for the newly elected Office Bearers and members of Apex Council to take Indian cricket forward.

“I thank the Bangladesh Cricket Board President Mr. Nazmul Hassan and his team for accepting our request on such short notice. I also thank India captain Mr. Virat Kohli for his co-operation,”
