Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik, who is the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, is known for his calm and composed persona on and off the field. Seldom is he seen displaying his emotions out on the field, just like former India captain MS Dhoni.

Dinesh Karthik lost his cool in an uncommon incident on Friday

However, KKR’s captain cool lost his calm on Friday, in a do-or-die match against the Kings XI Punjab. Karthik was seen getting angry at his teammates in the first strategic time-out of the game in Mohali.

It was in front of the head coach Jaques Kallis that Karthik assembled all his 11 players into a huddle and lashed out on them, regarding something.

When asked about the reason for his displeasure, DK said that he was unhappy with his bowlers and the fielding of the team, and hence lost his calm.

“I wasn’t too happy with the what the bowlers and the fielders were doing, so I thought I should let the boys know what I felt at that time. It is rare, not many people have seen me angry. If I feel I need to be angry to get the best out of the boys, then maybe (when asked if people will get to see his angry side again in future),” Karthik said during the post-match presentation.

Twitter was filled with tweets pointing out this uncommon behaviour of the KKR skipper:

Since the team started losing matches, all has not been well for the KKR franchise. Earlier, it was their top all-rounder Andre Russell who had spoken about how the hindrances in decision making had cost games to the Kolkata side and had transformed the team environment into a very unhealthy one.

However, last Sunday, KKR defeated Mumbai Indians to end their losing streak and keep their playoffs chances alive. As of now, Kolkata needs to win their last match and need SRH to lose their’s to make it into the playoffs.
