The United States of America’s fast bowler Ali Khan, who joined the Kolkata Knight Riders’ squad and likely to be featured in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), has been ruled out of 2020 edition of the cash-rich league after sustaining an injury.
Khan came as a replacement of England seamer Harry Gurney in the KKR squad. However, he has suffered a shoulder injury and he needed surgery as well.
“Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders signed up Ali Khan as a replacement for injured Harry Gurney. Khan became the first USA cricketer to be signed up by an IPL franchise. Unfortunately, Khan has since been injured and will miss the rest of the Dream11 IPL 2020 season,” an IPL statement read.
Notably, Ali Khan was the first player from his country who was bought for the cash-rich T20 league by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Meanwhile, the team welcomed him by sharing a video as well.

While the two-times champions are all set to take on MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday, KKR CEO Venky Mysore confirmed that he is not out of the league as he will continue his training with the team.
“While we are disappointed that he injured himself, KKR always does everything to take care of its players and therefore have asked him to stay on and are helping him with his recovery and rehab. Hopefully, he will recover fast,” Mysore said to ESPNcricinfo.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had registered a 10-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab in their last game whereas Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced a defeat against Delhi Capitals in their last match and they will try to get back in the winning zone against CSK.
