Team India skipper Virat Kohli and deputy Rohit Sharma were seen in the nets during the team’s optional training session ahead of the crucial tie against Afghanistan. Another notable presence during the session was Suryakumar Yadav, who had to miss the contest against New Zealand due to back spasms.

The majority of the Indian batting contingent were missing from the session. Wicket-keepers KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant also elected to skip the optional session in place.

Among the bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami did not attend the session in order to recover from the previous contest and be ready for tomorrow’s clash. in contrast to the one-week break they availed after the contest against Pakistan, they have now only a few days break after the loss to New Zealand. Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, and Rahul Chahar were among the names present from the bowling unit.

Suryakumar Yadav was seen starting off with a little jogging session and then proceeded with some fitness drills. His activity was closely watched by the likes of assistant strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai. Physio Nitin Patel and strength and conditioning coach Nick Webb.

Skipper Virat Kohli, mentor MS Dhoni, and coach Ravi Shastri were seen having a discussion, presumably about tactics and strategy for their match-up against Afghanistan.

The clash on Wednesday will also see a change in venue for India, who played their initial set of matches in Dubai. The team struggled at the venue with two heavy losses to Pakistan and New Zealand. This time around, they will compete at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi before returning to Dubai for their remaining set of matches against Namibia and Scotland.

The Men In Blue have to pick up a win against their Asian rivals if they need to stay alive in this tournament. With Pakistan already having sealed the top spot in the group, three teams still stay in contention for the second and final spot in the group for the semi-finals.
