The tedious and lengthy final at Istanbul was not anticipated by either of the Liverpool and Chelsea gaffers, but Reds boss Jürgen Klopp revealed that Lampard’s quip made him crack up in the dugout.

Both clubs have Premier League fixtures this weekend as usual, and none of the bosses were expecting the Super Cup final to go into extra time.
‘Nobody wanted extra-time tonight. They play Sunday at home to Leicester, but they have played on Sunday [last week] so there was no advantage tonight, but for the next game it will be pretty tough.” Klopp said during post match interview.
Although, the German admitted that the mood lightened up after a witty remark about Liverpool’s upcoming fixture from Lampard.
Klopp went on: ‘After 90 minutes I think, when it was close to the final whistle, Frank Lampard asked me, “Where do you play and when do you play?” And I said, “Saturday at Southampton.” And he said, “Oh, congratulations”.
The match ended 1-1 in normal time, with Olivier Giroud opening up the scorecard for the Blues, the equalizer came from Sadio Mané. The Senegalese forward put the Reds ahead again by the 95th minute, but Jorginho balanced it out from the spot.
Ultimately it was Liverpool who lifted the trophy, after they beat Lampard’s side 5-4 in the penalties, as Tammy Abraham’s shot was deflected by Adrián who is now accused by Chelsea fans on being off the goal line during the kick.
