KL Rahul

Amidst this IPL cricketing extravaganza, a day after leading LSG to a 33-run win over Gujarat, KL Rahul engaged in banter in a video shared by the franchise. Rahul’s strike rate in his 33-run knock on Sunday was criticised by experts and fans.

KL Rahul’s Strike Rate took a jibe

In a video that was shared by the franchise on Monday, KL Rahul and influencer Shubman Gaur can be seen engaged in a banter about the captain’s strike rate, a day after LSG defeated Gujarat at home for their third successive win of IPL 2024.

Rahul’s strike rate has been a topic of discussion among cricket pundits and fans alike. In the match against Gujarat Titans, he scored 33 runs off 31 balls. Rahul hit only 3 boundaries, but he held the top-order together after Gujarat reduced them to 18 for 2, picking up the wickets of Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal early.

Rahul stitched a 73-run stand with all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who hit a 43-ball 58, helping LSG post 163 for 5 in 20 overs, which they successfully defended.

“Congrats, Rahul bhai. I think you should become India’s next Defence Minister,” Shubham Gaur can be seen saying in the video.

“You are also making fun of the strike rate,” Rahul asks in response.

“No, No, you are successfully defending scores in the range of 160s. That’s why,” the influencer responds in the well-scripted banter between the two.

LSG: The Masters at defending the totals

Notably, LSG successfully defended a total in the 160s for the 13th time in the 3-year history of the team. KL Rahul may not have set the stage on fire with his bat, but the LSG captain was tactically brilliant as LSG won the game by 33 runs on Sunday.

Despite losing the pace sensation Mayank Yadav due to an injury scare after just 1 over from the 21-year-old, LSG bundled Gujarat out for 130 in 18.5 overs.

Another young pacer in Yash Thakur took a 5-wicket haul, the first of IPL 2024 while left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya chipped in with 3 wickets for a miserly spell of 3 for 11.
