Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were in extremely hot water after their appearance on late night talk show Koffee with Karan drew sharp criticism from cricket fans. They accused the duo of being Misogynist and sexist.
Both KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya were suspended, but now Rahul is all set for his ODI return against Australia which starts tomorrow. He made a statement in the T20 match earlier when he scored 47 and 50 runs in the two-match series. Even though India lost the series, Rahul played impressively.
KL Rahul said that time spend during the suspension amidst the late night show controversy has ‘Humbled’ him and now he values his position in the Indian team even more.
“It was a hard time no doubt. I mean, as a player, as a person, everyone has to go through difficult times and it was my time to go through that and I like I said it gave me time to reflect on my game, on myself. I have always been someone who takes things as it comes,” said Rahul after the second T20 International against Australia in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
He said that the suspension changed him and is grateful for the opportunity to play for the country.
“It has humbled me a little bit and you know. I respect the opportunity that I have gotten to play for the country. The dream of every kid is to play for the country and I am no different.
“Just to value where I am, just to keep making opportunities count and put my head down and keep working on my cricket,” he said.
He also said that during his time off he worked on his skills and technique and was trying hard to improve them. He also said that time spent with Rahul Dravid helped him a lot.
“I spent a lot of time with Rahul Dravid, working on my game and chatting about cricket. He helped me a lot in the games I played for India A.”
