KKR vs SRH: The IPL 2024 Playoffs got underway with Qualifier 1 taking place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first in this crucial encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
It was a surprising decision to bat first from Cummins, especially with the dew coming on later. However, it’s been the Orange Army’s strength to put on the big scores on the board and later defend it, this season. And with the mixed soil used for the pitch, it could have been a cautious call.
KKR vs SRH: Team Composition for Qualifier 1
Both the teams have gone for the same playing 11 from their previous encounters (KKR’s game washed out against RR). Phil Salt will be a huge miss for KKR at the top, who demolished the opposition along with Sunil Narine this season. Rahmanullah Gurbaz will be playing his first game this season and that too in the all-important penultimate match. The Spin duo of Narine and Chakravarthy will be playing a huge role again in restricting the Sunrisers openers and the middle order.
On the other hand, the SRH opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were too hot to handle, particularly in the powerplay. Both the South Paws killed the game at the top and never allowed the opposition to come back whenever they fired. The middle order is too looking strong with the likes of Heinrich Klassen, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Abdul Samad.
