Former Indian cricket captain, Kapil Dev, shared valuable advice with the Olympic-bound Indian athletes ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024. As the global sporting event approaches, Kapil emphasized the importance of self-expression and fearlessness on the grand stage.
Kapil Dev’s wishes for Indian contingent
India will be represented by a strong 117-member athlete contingent in Paris, aiming to surpass the seven-medal count achieved during the Tokyo Olympics. Kapil expressed his optimism, hoping that India would achieve a double-digit medal haul this year.
“I can’t really say for anybody but I can just wish them all the luck and hope we should win more medals this year and that’s important,” Kapil said.
The cricket legend, who is also the president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), shared his thoughts during the launch of the second edition of the Trinity Golf Champions League (TGCL).
“My advice to the Indian athletes would be to go and express yourself. I cross my fingers and why not, if we believe it [a double-digit medal haul] will happen,” he added.

While Kapil refrained from commenting on Indian cricket and the newly-appointed head coach, Gautam Gambhir, he extended his best wishes to the cricket team. As a former amateur golfer himself, Kapil also expressed hope for golf’s continued growth in India, envisioning it reaching the heights of cricket.
As the Paris Olympics draw near, Kapil Dev’s words serve as a rallying cry for Indian athletes—to compete boldly, embrace the moment, and leave their mark on the world stage12.
