Kamran Ghulam, the 29-year-old all-rounder, made a remarkable debut for Pakistan in the second Test against England, scoring a gritty fifty on Day 1 of the match in Multan. Replacing the struggling Babar Azam, Ghulam’s performance was a silver lining for Pakistan amidst a challenging start to the series.

Ghulam, who was promoted to the playing XI due to Babar Azam’s recent poor form, stepped up to the challenge and delivered an impressive performance. He came to the crease when Pakistan was reeling at 25/2, and his partnership with Saim Ayub helped stabilize the innings. Ghulam reached his half-century in 104 balls, showcasing his determination and resilience.
Ghulam’s fifty was crucial in rescuing Pakistan from a top-order collapse. His composed innings provided a much-needed boost to the team’s morale and set a solid foundation for the rest of the batting lineup. Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board dropped star batter Babar Azam for the remaining two Tests against England on Sunday, October 13. Along with him, wicketkeeper batter Sarfaraz Ahmed and fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah have also been released from the squad.
He hasn’t scored a half-century in his last 18 innings with his last big knock coming way back on December 26, 2022, when he scored 161 on Day 1 of the first Test against New Zealand in the first Test in Karachi. The former skipper got dismissed after scoring 30 and 5 across two innings in Pakistan’s massive loss in the first Test in Multan by an innings and 47 runs
