Cristiano Ronaldo recently caused quite a stir when he mocked Diego Simeone’s controversial celebration after his hat-trick helped Juventus in defeating Atletico Madrid 3-0 on Tuesday.
After Atletico beat Juventus in the 1st leg of the Round of 16 match, Simeone celebrated in controversial fashion. The ‘cojones’ celebration was then emulated by CR7 when Juve beat Atletico in the second leg to advance to the quarterfinals.
Although Simeone escaped a touchline ban and was slapped with a fine, rumours were spread that Ronaldo might get banned for his actions. Chief of Juventus Pavel Nedved, however, believes that Cristiano won’t face any ban.
“I’m neither happy nor unhappy with the draw,” Nedved told Sky Sport Italia of getting Ajax in the Champions League final eight.
“I don’t fear a ban for Cristiano. It was a gesture that stayed on the field. He vented after being insulted so much in Madrid and by their fans at our stadium. I don’t think there will be a ban.”
