Liverpool are hot in the race for the Premier League title this season, with only Manchester City providing the competition – a competition that is sure to go down to the wire, and ahead of City’s visit to Old Trafford this week, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp took a huge dig rivals Manchester United which is sure to sting fans a bit.

Liverpool have been extremely impressive this season, having lost just one Premier League game, and are sitting at the summit of the English contest, with a lead of mere 2 points over their only real title challengers Manchester City, who brought about the Reds’ aforementioned defeat.

Jurgen Klopp’s side accumulated a historic grand total of 88 points in 35 games following a 2-0 win over Cardiff City on the weekend, and will require defending champions Manchester City, who have an extra game in hand to drop points when they visit Manchester United later in the week, if Liverpool are to have their title chances boosted.

Klopp took no prisoners in his post match conference after the Cardiff game, and made it clear that he isn’t expecting Solksjaer’s side to do the Reds any favors in the Manchester derby, after United suffered an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Everton.

The German said:

“It is not something we can influence, and it does not look like United are in a place to, either. What was the score today? 3-0, 4-0, to Everton?”

“It is a normal game.”

He added:

“It’s all difficult, we just have to stay focused on our things – that’s what worked really well so far and I don’t see any reason why we should change.”

Liverpool progressed to the Champions League semi-finals where a tough test at La Liga champions Barcelona awaits them.
