Juan Ferrando appointed as the head coach of Mohun Bagan

After Antonio Hanas stepped down from his position as the head of ATK Mohun Bagan, the club appointed Juan Ferrando on Monday to fill in the position. The 40-year old will take charge of the club and might produce a better result than Habas. Under Habas’ leadership, the club did not see much improvement, instead, the club dropped down further the points table.

Ferrando’s contract with FC Goa was not over, but the release clause in his contract allowed him to leave the club with immediate effect.

After this was reported to the media, Ferrando addressed the media and said that he’ll give 110% to the club. Ferrando’s goal is to let the fans taste the true brand of football.

“I will give my 110% from day one so all fans can enjoy the best brand of football and hopefully we can celebrate together soon. I will consistently work towards helping our team and give their best.”

Fernando had helped FC Goa to reach the semifinals during the 2020-21 ISL season. But the club eventually lost to Mumbai City FC.

Akshay Tandon: We do not have a choice in his decision

FC president and co-owner, Akshay Tandon expressed his disappointment on Twitter. Tandon had no choice but to let Ferrando go, because he had triggered the release clause.

“With disappointment I’d like to confirm that @JuanFerrandoF has triggered his release clause, obliging us to release him of his duties so that he can join @atkmohunbaganfc. As long as the money gets deposited in our accounts, we do not have a choice in his decision.”

“It is unfortunate that people involved in the deal chose to leak the information to the press even before the release clause was triggered. Members of our squad and staff had to find out about these developments through Twitter and the media.”
