Jorginho sets terrible PL record – 1896 passes but 0 assists

Chelsea’s star summer signing of Brazil born midfielder Jorginho has proved to be quite fundamental for Blues boss Maurizio Sarri’s style of play. As Jorginho sets in to life in London, he’s managed to set a not-so-good record for himself in his debut season in the Premier League.

Jorginho, or as some may call him a “pass master”, contributed a lot to Chelsea’s games ever since his arrival at Stamford Bridge past summer. Most noteworthy is the current record he set for himself – for breaking the record of most passes in a Premier League game, since 2003-04, being involved in 180 of those in the Blues’ clash against West Ham back in September last year.

However, even more noteworthy is the fact that, even though the Italian national team midfielder has completed a whopping 1,896 passes this term, Jorginho has not been able to register even a single assist! Chelsea have scored 38 goals in the Premiership alone this season and the midfielder hasn’t yet been able to set up a single goal himself from 20 of 21 games he’s played, although he did score once against Huddersfield back in November.

Additionally worth mentioning is that, even though Jorginho had more passes alone than the whole of Newcastle, against whom he debuted, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has got an assist this season – having set up Sergio Aguero with an outrageous goal-kick against Huddersfield in August.

Make of the scenario what you will!
