Chelsea’s prized summer signing Jorginho has impressed during his so far brief time at Stamford Bridge, and while the Italian national team midfielder was almost confirmed to head over to Manchester City, who were courting the Brazilian all through the summer window, his mother eventually helped him move to London.
Jorginho moved to Chelsea for a £50 million fee in the summer of 2018 after spending over four years time in Italy at Napoli. And while the idea of a reunion with his former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, who was now at Stamford Bridge as well, was big enough of a factor in the move, the Brazilian’s mother played a pivotal role in deciding her son’s next footballing destination, and Jorginho has been really happy with how things have turned out, as he has started 19 of the 20 League games Chelsea played this season.
“My mum was a big influence in me coming here. Every decision, I speak to my mum and this one was the same. My mum has always been by my side for every decision I take,” he said, adding that the move has been helped by having Sarri in the dugout.
“I think it is easier for me because I know how he works and I know what he wants from me on the pitch. It has made me coming here easier. I think he has already changed a lot.”
The 27-year old is also a firm believer that his Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard is als the best player in the world.
“With the potential he has, if he wants, he can be the best in the world,” Jorginho explained.
