England pace bowler Jofra Archer might pull out his name from the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is all set to begin next month. According to British Daily ‘The Telegraph’, the speedster has made his priorities clear as he wants to be a better international cricketer and for that, he might skip the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.
On the other hand, Archer has been struggling with his right elbow as well for a long time now. Even, due to this injury, he failed to take part in the second and fourth Test against India as well. And, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had stated that their key pace bowler Jofra Archer missed the final Test due to his elbow injury due to which he couldn’t play in the second Test in Chennai as well.
“Jofra Archer is not playing in this Test match due to his ongoing right elbow issue. The ECB medical team will provide an update in due course,” revealed an update from the ECB.
Meanwhile, their key all-rounder Ben Stokes was also ill as he had an upset stomach but that didn’t stop him from playing as well. “Ben Stokes has had an upset stomach, the same issue that has affected other members of the touring party. It is not expected to keep him off the field,” they added.
However, India won the five-match T20I series 3-2 against England in Ahmedabad after securing a 4-1 series win in the Tests. Currently, both teams will travel to Pune for the three-match one Day International series which will start from March 23.
After that, India will host the 14th edition of the IPL across six venues where the first half of the league will be played behind close doors. Later, Team India will travel to England for the final of the inaugural World Test Championship where they will face New Zealand in June this year.
