The Indian duo faced a formidable challenge in the final, going up against Germany’s Constantin Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens. The match, held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre, was a rollercoaster of emotions, showcasing the tenacity and determination of both teams.
Frantzen and Jebens initially took control, winning the first set 6-4. However, Jeevan and Vijay fought back, taking the second set in a nail-biting tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5). A Season of Comebacks
Jeevan and Vijay’s journey to the title was marked by a series of remarkable comebacks. In the semifinals, they faced Uruguay’s Ariel Behar and the USA’s Robert Galloway. After losing the first set 0-6, they rallied to win the second set and the subsequent tiebreaker. Their quarterfinal match against the second-seeded British team of Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool was equally dramatic, with Jeevan and Vijay winning 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (8-6), 10-8.
The Final Showdown at Hangzhou Open
Frantzen and Jebens broke Jeevan and Vijay’s serve in the fifth game of the first set and held their own serves to take the set. However, the Indian pair held their nerves in the second set, pushing it to a tiebreaker, which they won. The super tiebreaker saw Jeevan and Vijay initially trailing but they managed to turn the tide, winning six of the last eight points to clinch the title.
