India’s bowling spearhead who underwent a lower back surgery is all set to join India ahead of the One-Day International series against West Indies, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to join the Indian camp ahead of the second ODI.

Bumrah was ruled out of the Indian team after the T20 series against South Africa, he was then asked to undergo a lower back surgery. Since, then he has made a steady comeback from the injury and the Indian team expects him to get back for the New Zealand series.

“Bumrah will be having a net session with the Indian team. This is a norm now. The team management also checked Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fitness in Indore before the Test against Bangladesh although he wasn’t a part of the squad. This is also something on similar lines, a common practice,” a BCCI source told PTI

The team management is not going to put any pressure on India’s most lethal fast bowler and would want him to comeback after he is completely fit as the Indian team wouldn’t want him to get injured again and would want him to be completely fit until the T20 world cup in October 2020 , down under.

“There is a system that has been put in place. When a player has recovered substantially, he is to be checked by the team management as well as the national team physio (Nitin Patel) and trainer (Nick Webb). Bowling at India nets will give him that feel,” said the source.

Indian all-rounder also underwent the lower back surgery and is on the road of recovery and was seen supporting the Indian team in the final T20 against the current T20 world champions West Indies and was also seen in the practice session.

However both Bumrah and Pandya are not expected to make a comeback until the series against New Zealand as the team management would want them to be fit for the T20 World Cup.
