In a thrilling cricketing month, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the standout performer, securing the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for June 2024. His exceptional contributions during the T20 World Cup campaign played a pivotal role in India’s triumph.

Bumrah’s consistent brilliance throughout the T20 World Cup held in the USA and Caribbean showcased his mastery. He took an impressive 15 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.26. His economy rate of 4.17 demonstrated his unwavering control over the game.

Starting in New York, Bumrah set the tone with a remarkable 3/6 against Ireland. His match-defining 3/14 against Pakistan further solidified his impact. Although he went wicketless against the USA, he bounced back in the Super Eights, claiming six wickets in three outings.

In the semifinal clash against England, Bumrah’s 2/12 (2.4 overs) proved decisive. He saved his best for the final, delivering a crucial 2/18 (4 overs) against South Africa in Barbados.

Bumrah’s recognition as the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup added to his laurels. He now joins Virat Kohli as an Indian player to achieve this honour.

Upon receiving the award, Bumrah expressed his gratitude: “I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June. It’s a special honour for me following a memorable few weeks spent in the USA and West Indies. We have had a lot to celebrate as a team, and I’m delighted to be able to add this personal accolade to the list.”
