Jasprit Bumrah Announced As Team India Captain For Ireland Series

BCCI recently announced Team India’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah will finally make his return to the squad and will surprisingly lead the Men in Blue.

Bumrah has been sidelined after he sustained a stress fracture in his lower back in July 2022. Due to the injury, the 29-year-old missed out on many big tournaments including the T20 World Cup 2022, the Asia Cup 2022, and the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Bumrah will make his highly-anticipated return to international cricket as the skipper for the games against Ireland ahead of the World Cup.

Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad was announced the vice-captain for the three-match series against Ireland. The Indian team that will be traveling to Malahide, includes plenty of youngsters including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and many more.

Prasidh Krishna will also make a comeback to the Indian squad, as he too was out of contention due to injury. Both Bumrah and Krishna were recently seen bowling to Mumbai batters in practice matches in Bangalore as well. Training hard at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), both pacers will be hopeful that they can make their return to international cricket at peak fitness.

The first T20I of the series against Ireland will be played at The Village in Malahide on Friday, August 18.
