Jadumani and Akash enter the quarterfinals of the Youth Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan

Indian boxers, Mandengbam Jadumani Singh and Akash Gorkha, have made their mark in the boxing world by entering the quarter-finals at the ASBC Asian U-22 & Youth Boxing Championships 2024. The championships are currently being held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Jadumani and Akash’s vicotires at Youth Boxing Championships

Jadumani Singh, competing in the 51 kg category, displayed his dominance over Mongolia’s Aldarkhishig Battulga. He secured victory in the bout with an RSC (Referee Stop Contest) decision in round two, earning him a spot in the quarter-finals.

On the other hand, Akash Gorkha, competing in the 60 kg category, faced a tough challenge against Mongolia’s Ganbaatar Gan Erdene. Despite losing the first round, Gorkha made a remarkable comeback to win the bout 4-1.

Both Singh and Gorkha will play their quarter-final bouts on Tuesday, April 30.

The Boxing Federation of India has fielded a 50-member India squad for the ongoing prestigious tournament. The tournament has been witnessing high-voltage action with the presence of 390-plus boxers from more than 24 countries, fighting for the medals across 25 weight categories.

The finals for the youth and U-22 categories will be played on May 6 and 7 respectively.

The ASBC Asian U-22 & Youth Boxing Championships 2024 has been a platform for young boxers like Singh and Gorkha to showcase their talent on an international stage. Their performances have not only made them strong contenders in their respective categories but have also brought pride to the country.
