After creating his own fan base following the heroics in the Nidahas trophy Final, Dinesh Karthik has been in and out of the Indian side despite playing well in the limited chances he has received.

Pant, who was taken in place of Karthik did not shine too well, with his keeping technique coming to scrutiny. Now with the choice for the backup keeper not fixed, current KKR coach Jacques Kallis has suggested Karthik’s inclusion into the squad.

The former South African emphasized that the world cup competition requires experience and temperament and Karthik’s inclusion will mean that he brings all those along with him.

“India will be silly not to pick Dinesh Kartik in the World Cup team. He has the experience and the temperament and will be critical to India’s chances. He should be looked at as the number 4 option. 2019 will be the most open World Cup of all and India certainly has the team to win it and are the favourites going into the tournament,” Kallis was quoted as saying by India Today.

Karthik has so far not fired this IPL scoring just 91 runs at an average of 22.75. But with the selectors stressing on the point that IPL won’t be a criteria for selection, Karthik should fancy his chances to make it into the squad.
