KL Rahul, the former captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has expressed his openness to returning to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. Despite his recent exit from LSG, Rahul has stated that captaincy is not a deal-breaker for him.

Rahul’s departure from LSG was controversial, especially after a video emerged of franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka publicly reprimanding him following a 10-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024. Despite this, Rahul remains one of the most sought-after players in the auction, scheduled for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

KL Rahul’s Fond Memories with RCB

In an interview with Star Sports, Rahul fondly recalled his time at RCB, where he began his IPL journey in 2013. He played alongside cricket icons like Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle and enjoyed the familiarity of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he grew up playing. “I most enjoyed playing at RCB. It’s home. You get to spend a lot of time at home,” Rahul said.

Rahul emphasized his flexibility and readiness to take on any role or responsibility assigned to him by the team. “I would never go and ask someone for it (captaincy). If you feel that my leadership skills are good enough, and you find something good in the way I play my cricket, in the way I handle myself and in the way that I handled the teams that I’ve captained in the last four or five years, and if you find it worthy, then, of course, I’m happy to do it, but it’s not something that is a make-a-break for me,” Rahul explained.
