International Sports Summit Kerala(ISSK) is successfully fulfilling it’s objectives at the Greenfield Sports Hub in Thiruvananthapuram. Promoted as India’s first ever hybrid sports summit, which includes finding talent from the grassroot level and also bringing the investments to develop the sport infrastructure in the state.
Investments galore at ISSK
The summit already succeeded in getting 23 proposals from different sporting sectors as a display of commitment to develop the culture of sport in the God’s own country. Majority of the investments took a keen interest in Football and as a result the state will become the biggest Football Hub in the country very soon.
Kerala Cricket Association(KCA) came up with the largest investment worth of 1200 crore “Cochin Sports City” in Chengamanad, near Kochi Airport, and three other stadiums in other districts of the state.
The Sports City includes a 40000 capacity cricket stadium along with indoor and outdoor practice areas, training grounds, sports academies, research centers, eco-parks, water-sports parks, sports medicine and fitness centers, an e-sports arena, entertainment zones, and a club house.
Meeran Group, in collaboration with Kerala Football Association, initiated 800 crore investment to construct 8 FIFA standard football stadiums and four training centers in various parts of the state. The first one will be set up in Kochi in the next one and half year. The other proposed places include Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

Other notable investments include from the Lords Football Academy from Kochi announced plans for a multi-purpose sports complex with an investment of 650 crore. Premier Group, responsible for managing the Greenfield Stadium’s convention center and other amenities, aims to invest 450 crore in building a 60,000-capacity football stadium in Kozhikode.
With an abundance of investments, ISSK has fulfilled it’s aspiration to make the state as a sports destination in the country in the coming years.
